Friends of Montessori Foundation

The mission of the Foundation is to support activities of the Parents Association, and distribute contributions to two worthy causes:  need-based scholarships for families, and continuing education for our faculty and staff.

The Montessori Schools of Flatiron & SoHo are two of the few independent preschools in New York City that provide need-based scholarships.  Having access to this vital resource allows us to increase the diversity in our children’s classrooms and provide an educational foundation to children who may not otherwise have the opportunity.  We contribute significantly every year to this initiative which makes a positive contribution to every classroom.  Since 2018, over  $600,000 has been contributed toward financial aid and scholarships.

Additionally, offering continuing education allows us to assist teachers and staff pursuing further training and Montessori certifications.  This helps to attract and keep our talented staff and encourages current teachers to continue to develop professionally. The program has provided over $2 million in financial assistance since its inception.

Further, 100% of all donations, net of minor transaction fees assessed by PayPal, are passed through as grants, further strengthening the impact of your giving.  Your gift may also be eligible for a dollar-for-dollar employer matching gift program.  Please inquire with your employer.  The Friends of Montessori Foundation is a 100% tax deductible 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
