Admissions Process

Filling out our Inquiry Form is not required, but it's a great way to connect with our Admissions Team to let us know you are interested and ask any questions you may have before submitting an application. You can also register for an upcoming Open House directly through our Inquiry Form.

Please use the buttons below to access our application for your campus of choice. Once you submit your application, you will be able to schedule your required School Tour/Parent Interview and Applicant Visit. You will also be able to register for any of our optional events.

For families applying to The Montessori at Flatiron:

• Children applying to our Toddler Half-Day or Toddler Full-Day programs must turn two years old by December 31st, 2027 to start in September 2027. Children turning two in January or February of 2028 must apply for one of our January Start options.

For families applying to The Montessori in SoHo:

• Children applying to our Toddler Half-Day or Toddler Full-Day programs must be 18 months old by their chosen start date (September 2027 or January of 2028).

For all families:

• Children who will be two in September of 2027 but turn three in January or February of 2028 should select our Toddler/Primary program. Children in the Toddler/Primary program can move up from a Toddler classroom to a Primary classroom mid-year based on child readiness.
• Children who will turn three by December 31st, 2027 should select our Primary program.

What is Early Decision?

Our Early Decision Program is designed for families who are confident that the Montessori Schools (Flatiron or SoHo) are their first choice.

Early Decision Notification Dates:

• October 21, 2026
• November 11, 2026
• December 9, 2026

Early Decision Deadlines:

• For notification in October, please submit your application by September 30th, 2026, and complete all required appointments by October 7th, 2026.
• For notification in November, please submit your application by October 14th, 2026, and complete all required appointments by October 28th, 2026.
• For notification in December, please submit your application and complete all required appointments by November 18th, 2026.

Families who choose Early Decision must submit their enrollment deposits at the time of acceptance to secure their child’s spot.

Families choosing Regular Decision will receive notification on February 24, 2027.

Applications for Regular Decision are due by January 20, 2027.

Please complete all appointments by February 10, 2027.

After submitting your completed application, you will be able to self-schedule a private, in-person parent tour and interview through our admissions portal. This meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know your family, share more about our program, and answer any questions you may have.

All Applicants for our Toddler and Toddler/Primary programs and younger applicants to our Primary program must attend a small group visit designed to allow our Admissions Team to observe each child in a relaxed and developmentally appropriate setting. Each session includes 4–6 children and is approximately 40 minutes in length. Activities are structured to reflect the Montessori environment, offering opportunities for natural interaction, exploration, and engagement with age-appropriate materials. Parents remain with their child for the duration of the visit. Please schedule your child's visit through our admissions portal once your application has been submitted. 

Older applicants to our Primary program must attend a one-on-one visit with a member of our Admissions Team. These visits are approximately 30 minutes long. This time allows us to observe your child's interests, focus, and readiness for the Primary environment in a warm, supportive setting. A member of our admissions team will reach out to you directly to schedule this required appointment once your application has been submitted.

If your child is currently attending a full-time preschool program, we ask that you provide a signed copy of our Teacher/Mentor Evaluation form to your child's current teacher or mentor to complete and return. You can assign the form directly in your Applicant Portal once you complete the application.

By attending an Open House, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Explore our Montessori classrooms and materials with our Montessori Guides
• Learn how the Montessori approach supports whole-child development
• Hear about our daily routines, curriculum, and community values from members of our leadership team
• Learn more about the admissions process and important dates.

Attending an Open House is optional, and can be done prior to submitting an application. 

As part of our admissions experience, we offer families the opportunity to join a Zoom conversation with a current Montessori parent.

You get the opportunity to:

• Hear firsthand what it's like to be part of The Montessori Schools community
• Learn about daily life in the classroom from a parent’s perspective;
• Ask questions about the transition into school, the Montessori approach, or anything else you’re curious about
• Gain insight into what makes our programs unique and how they support children’s growth over time.

These small-group conversations are informal, welcoming, and designed to offer real-life perspective. You must complete an application to register for this optional, parents only event.

Join us for a relaxed conversation with Nick Combemale, our Head of School, and a member of our current parent community.

This is an opportunity for you to:

• Hear directly from our Head of School about the school’s mission, values, and educational approach
• Ask questions about our Montessori programs, faculty, and community
• Connect more personally with school leadership in a small group setting.
